What, using a powder that’s listed in the load manuals for a 6.5creed?

I’ve never used 4831sc for the 6.5creed, but I know ppl who have when they couldn’t find H4350.

Also, 41.5grs of H4350 with 140’s has done great for a lot of ppl...just don’t tell anyone, it’s a secret.

Well - you and GlockTalk sort of spilled the beans.  Part of it, anyway.

 Here is the secret load:

- take a 140 grain bullet, next

- load it over exactly 44.3 grains of  Hodgdon H4831 SC

There’s your Carolina load!  .

Fire a 3 shot group and all 3 shots should be touching.

Here’s where I learned the secret:  https://forum.accurateshooter.com/threads/the-secret-6-5-carolina-load.3958973/

Not sure what a Carolina Load is, but Id bet the rear end is way lower than the front.

Dominion...it looks like you edited my statement and revised the charge. Please edit/correct or delete that. The charge value you changed it to would likely result in a catastrophic failure if you could even get it in the case.

h4831sc isn't exactly a secret. Hodgdon list loads for h4831. SC is just a short grain version and according to my last talk with them about it, there's no difference between 4831 and 4831sc. Sometimes I wonder about people. The OP on accurateshooter seems to not know much about reloading so it's not shocking but I still wonder about people. RTF to the mutherfuckin M.

4831SC is the absolute bomb for the 6.5-284N.  No real need to try any other powders outside of availability.

I just snarfed coffee out my nose!

I've been using 35.8gr IMR 4064 under a 140gr ELD-M and it holds right around 4" at 600 yards on those rare days when I can call the wind right.

I have about 13 lbs of H4350 but haven't developed a load yet because the 4064 is working so well.

H4350 is magic powder in the 6.5s.

6.5 Creedmoor 26" barrel: 140 grain Berger HyBred with IMR 4350 Norma brass and Cci 200's COAL 2.885" Velocity 2810 ft/secs.

Wiseman barrel smithed by Bill himself.  Barrel had 1983 rounds on it when I started this group because a buddy of mine brought over a bore scope and we both puked at the skid marks and aligatoring.  Yes that is a 5 shot 100 yard group, about .180 center to center with my Mitoyo caliper.

So as to the Carolina load, I've shot that in this barrel as well, and it's damn good too.  Since I have a fair amount of H 4831 SC left over from a 6.5/284 project it's my new go to load.

It's my go-to.

That said, RL16 will do some amazing things under a 142SMK.
