Bought a Savage 110 Desert Tactical 6.5 Creedmoor, put a Vortex Viper Gen2 PST on it with the one piece 30mm mount.
Mount said 16 inch lbs for rings. I got comfortable with the rifle and shot a match with it. Accuracy went to shit halfway through. Realized by seeing scratches on the scope tube that it slit backwards about 3/8". Tried my buddies torque screwdriver against mine and it was the same. What gives? |

Vortex recommends 18in-lbs.

I use a silver sharpie marker and put timing marks on everything after torquing.

What mount? Did you use a little alcohol and degrease inside of ring when mounting?

It was this mount:

With it being their scope and mount I'd probably contact Vortex and see if they can help you out.

Yeah that’s not a good choice for mounting a scope to a bolt gun. Get a good set of rings. Keep that for an AR and tighten to 18-20 in/lbs when you do.
If you wanted to keep cost down then get a set of the Vortex Pro Series rings. They are very nice for the $59 and will hold a PST without issue. Have one mounted in a set. |
