Looking at picking up an ATACR 4-16 in MIL. Will live on a 16” SR25 ACC and primarily used out to max distance of 7-800. I plan on taking some training courses with this set-up. The long term goal is getting into some longer range precision shooting (possibly competition). I want a reticle that is good to train with as well as serve me in the future.

I’ve narrowed it down to:

H59
Mil-XT
Mil-C

Please share suggestions and experiences with or between these three.

Thanks in advance for the input.

Appreciate the insight. I was thinking the same between those two.

I used the MOAR because I'm too dumb to switch to MIL-RAD

I appreciate it. Seems like it’s growing in popularity quickly.

Mil-XT does 98% of what the Horus H59 does, but without the absurd markup.  If it were the Tremor3, I might advocate for that if you feel like you really need the wind holds.
Keep in mind that Horus is now owned by the Ray Dennis Group, which also owns NightForce.  That’s why the Mil XT is about as close as you can get to the H59 without actually having an H59.

Mil-XT.  I’ve grown to really love the XT in my 4-16x (which sits atop my 16” .308 AR).  Not as cluttered feeling as some of the Horus/Tremor options but still very useful.

I have both the Mil-C and Mil-XT in a few different scopes.  I voted Mil-XT in your poll because of the possibility of shooting beyond 600 yards - in especially windy conditions or on moving targets, the Mil-XT will make you more capable.

The ATACR 4-16x42 is easily my favorite do-all scope.

I went Mil XT and I’m happy with it.

Gives you a good amount without being too busy.

Perfect for my 5.56 gun.

hope you are shooting big targets 16X isnt a lot of scope at 800. I use a 25X at 600 and want more.

Ehhh shooting matches out to 1500 or more rarely do I ever go above 25 power.  The large majority I’m in the 18 power range. Far as the original question. I really like the mil- xt.  It might be my new favorite.
