I have a long range course in September. I have plenty of 308 components but need 600 loaded rounds. Half my brass is 7.62 and half 308. Would you find more 308 or just load the 7.62?

I assume the 7.62 brass is the same headstamp? If so, it’s still useable, but you may have to adjust the charge weight and have slightly different velocity/dope, but nothing major. Work up a separate load or confirm the load in the 7.62 brass before loading a bunch.

Make a choice either .308 or 7.62 and make the 600 rounds consistent.  If you're paying good money for the course, make ever round count, and making them all the same will help.

I did the 7 day PRS course and brought 700 rounds of lapua brass, Federal 210, Berger bullets. weighing and measuring each load, and checking run out on each.  By being consistent, my results were worth the time and effort it took me.

load ten of each and shoot groups at 100 yards or so and you can see for your self

OP,

brass

I have bought brass from this guy several times.   All has been good.  He is in Chambersburg PA.  Has 308 for 23 bucks per 100 if you want to get all the same brass.

For that type of shooting I would want to keep as consistent as possible. Maybe try and find another fellow brass buzzard and see if he'll trade 7.62 for .308 . Maybe you'll get lucky and he'll have the same headstamp brass.

308 brass weight varies wildly. Some heavier than 7.62 brass, most less. If you want consistency, use all the same head stamp brass.
