Shooting a custom 700 .308, currently has a very old NF 5.5x22x56.  Mil-Dot reticle with MOA adjustments and second focal plane.  Lately I've been using the rifle for the occasional PRS-style shoots from 100 - 625 yards.  I'm thinking about switching to a FFP mil/mil scope that be more conducive to using holdovers.  That said, I'm not sure I want to spend 2500+ on a Razor HD or similar.  The rifle itself is pretty well-used and has 18" barrel, so not an ideal PRS set-up to begin with.  I was thinking about a Vortex PST GenII, but I'm not sure if I'll be disappointed going from NF to PST.  Any suggestions on a scope for this application?  The one I'm considering:

I have had good luck with a Bushnell Elite Tactical DMR and a Athlon Kronos.  Both track repeatably and optics are good enough.

Got each for $1,000 used, as in mounted and thats about it.

Look for a used last gen Vortex Razor.

Thanks.  This Razor is a bit more affordable, but still about 800 more than the PST I linked.  I think this is an older model?

Good question.  I hadn't really set a budget for this.  I'm perfectly fine spending money on a nice scope, I'm just not sure it's worth it to spend a ton on this particular rifle since it's older and not ideally set up for PRS type shooting.  Probably try and stay around 1500.  I'll most likely sell the old NF, which should offset it some.

I’d go with a used a Bushnell DMR II.

I have several of them and the Gen II Razor you linked to.

After having both even if they were the same price I’d go with the DMR II.  I don’t really notice much difference in the glass and I HATE the zero stop reset on the Razor.

I get a bit of a discount on this one and can get it for 1500.  Any reason not to pick it up at that price?  It seems to be what I'm looking for.  A little less magnification than my current 22x NF, but 18x should be enough for me I think.  My local range goes out to 625 max.

About 800 retail, and about 85-90% the scope my nightforce ATACR is.

Crazy good scope for the money

I ended up going with the Razor HD 3-18x50 with Seekins 1" height rings and a throw lever.  Haven't shot it yet but I really like the set up thus far.  Of course the scope went on sale for $250 less a week later, but such is life.

That NF really has a mil reticle with MOA adjustments?

You can find used Razor HD Gen II used for $1300-1600 if you look patiently enough.  They’re tough and have awesome warranties so you shouldn’t about buying a good condition used one.  If you only want to shop at retailers, you can get the Razor HD GenII 18x at $1699 and the 4.5-27x for $1799, and that’s with no coupons or anything.

I got a Razor HD Gen II 4.5-27x from eurooptic last week for $1272 before tax/ship...

Yes, it's a very old NF from 2002.  I don't think FFP and Mil adjustments had really caught on by then.
