Sig 2200.
I own vortex and leupold RF's as well, they make a really nice product but my sig is on a different level. |

Sig kilo's are another good one...you will want the longer range ones if you want to range pig sized game in any conditions...Say the kilo 1800-2200-2400.. I have the kilo 2400 and a year or two older Leupold..the Leupold can't come close at anything past about 300-350 yards...
This is a few years old, but gives you an idea... Attached File |

I know but mentioning 2200 and 2400 doesn't help him. I can tell him my Fury 5000 go to over 2 miles but they are also $1200.

Yup the Ranger 1800s will work for his needs too at $299. They are better than the 1500s shown in that old test.
If he started shifting his price range up then he obviously has more options but we can only go by what he says. OP if you wanted to see the specs on the Ranger 1800 they are below. Pay no attention to the $499 MSRP as you can see from my above link that they sell for less on the street. Something else to think about in using these in the real world and hunting is that the Sig only has a 5 year electronic warranty and the Vortex is covered for life on all electronics as well as accidental damage if you drop it out the truck or accidentally run it over. It gets repaired or replaced. Nice insurance. https://vortexoptics.com/vortex-ranger-1800-rangefinders.html |

What's the scoop on the Vortex Copperhead 1500?
Range a hog out to 600? |

It says 750 on deer but I would go with the Ranger as it has a stronger laser as it can hit deer to 900. With LRF you want to be stronger to make sure you can hit.

Thanks
found a deal on a Vortex Ranger 1500 And just today while I was putting up targets behind the 600 yard line berm, a big hog waddled from the woods around the 550yd line. By this time next week, I'll be able to range him. |

A bit off topic but save your money and buy Vortex Optics Fury HD 5000 10x42 Laser Rangefinding Binoculars.
These mothers range to 2000 yards, (almost double my Geovids) and are $1100 with lifetime warranty. |

Have friends who have hit rocks in the desert at 3300 yards. Tough to test them much further as that's a long way. LOL I have a set and have hit over 2000 yards with them. They are awesome to spot at matches with too. Unfortunately a good deal more money than the OP wants to spend and he isn't need to range that far. |

But the Ventus only does wind to 500 yards? On my buddie's Vortex Fury HD I was ranging a man at almost 2100, the Geovid 10X42 were good to about 1350, relatively poor conditions with light fog. I've had the Geovids over 12 years, never let me down but these Vortex are sure slick, optically excellent, ruggedness not as sure, but what the hell, lifetime warranty. Doc will be thrilled with his Vortex 1500, absolutely for sure. But if you can swing it, these Vortex Fury HD Binocs are a no brainer for certain. Once you go range finding binocs, you never go back. |
