Sig 2200.

I own vortex and leupold RF's as well, they make a really nice product but my sig is on a different level.

Sig kilo's are another good one...you will want the longer range ones if you want to range pig sized game in any conditions...Say the kilo 1800-2200-2400.. I have the kilo 2400 and a year or two older Leupold..the Leupold can't come close at anything past about 300-350 yards...

This is a few years old, but gives you an idea...

He might have to spend more money if he wants hits on pig sized animals under any conditions... sucks but that's life...I do think the 1800 will satisfy his needs, hence it was my first recommendation....The chart was to show him how drastic the difference in real world performance was between the "cheap RF's and the not so cheap, but work in the real world priced RF's are...

Thanks

found a deal on a Vortex Ranger 1500

And just today while I was putting up targets behind the 600 yard line berm, a big hog waddled from the woods around the 550yd line.

By this time next week, I'll be able to range him.

Our best sellers are the SIG models. You can get a nice unit under $200 that will do what you want.

A bit off topic but save your money and buy Vortex Optics Fury HD 5000 10x42 Laser Rangefinding Binoculars.

These mothers range to 2000 yards, (almost double my Geovids) and are $1100 with lifetime warranty.

Unfortunately a good deal more money than the OP wants to spend and he isn't need to range that far.

Nice. I'd like to see more data on the Trijicon Ventus, too.

But the Ventus only does wind to 500 yards?

On my buddie's Vortex Fury HD I was ranging a man at almost 2100, the Geovid 10X42 were good to about 1350, relatively poor conditions with light fog.
I've had the Geovids over 12 years, never let me down but these Vortex are sure slick, optically excellent, ruggedness not as sure, but what the hell, lifetime warranty.

Doc will be thrilled with his Vortex 1500, absolutely for sure.

But if you can swing it, these Vortex Fury HD Binocs are a no brainer for certain.
Once you go range finding binocs, you never go back.

Is that right? That's right about where wind really starts to matter.

I like what you're saying about the Vortex's.
