[Last Edit: QCB]
I am re-stocking a 20 year old AWC Ruger 77/22 which has a 1 inch diameter wrap around suppressor.

I have shot something like 2000 rock chucks with this rifle over the last 20 years using the original plastic stock and a 3-10x40mm Shepherd scope. By adjusting point of impact about 1/2 inch high at 25 yards I have been able to use the high velocity 22 LR reticle pattern at 25, 50, 100 yards.  But the trajectory drops off past 150 yards to be effective, which is a shame since the rifle is capable of real world (field positions) 2 1/2 inch ES groups at 200 yards.

I'd like to switch to a target scope.  Am wondering what you guys would recommend?

I do not HAVE to have a FFP.  Is there a really reliable SFP at half the price of a FFP in the 3-15 range?

If  not, I was leaning toward a SWFA 3-15x42 (or Sig at similar price point) rather than a gen 2 Vortex. Or migrating one of my old gen 1 FFP Vortex down to the 22 LR and replacing it with the SWFA!

I would like to get out to 300 yards w the sub sonic 22 LR which means I would need a scope with 110 MOA or so total elevation. the SWFA has a whopping 140 MOA adjustment.

But, if price point was way less for a SFP scope that really tracked well, Id give up some range and settle for about 85 MOA total which would get me to 250 yards.

Advice appreciated.

I use a SWFA SS 10x fixed power on my cz455.  My dope for 300 yards is 13.6 mils, I guess about 46 MOA, using subsonic ammo.  I should mention it’s mounted on a 25 MOA DIP rail as well.  Point is you should have enough adjustment to get you there.  If you need a variable I’ve heard good things about the SWFA 3-15 but I hav even good from 25 yards out to 325 yards with my fixed 10x.

The nice thing about the SWFA scopes is the parallax adjustment that goes to 10 yards I think.

Look at the Athlon scopes from Cameraland NY. The company was formed by some ex Bushnell employees.  I have a 4-20x $150 Athlon on a 10/22 TArget. No complaints.
