My gun club I got into this year is doing rimfire matches starting in the spring.  Want to get into the matches so I wanted to buy a precision rimfire rifle.  I was looking for a Tikka T1X but they are super hard to find.  Ended up getting the CZ 457 Varmint Precision Chassis with 24" barrel.  Anyone have one and how has it treated you so far, and what ammo does it like?

I am probably going to get rid of the factory chassis and throw it in a KRG Bravo.  I have a Gen 1 Viper PST 6-24x50 on order for it as well.

I have one with the 16.5 barrel it likes SK standard, SK rifle match, and RWS Rifle match. Surprisingly it shoots the federal auto match very well. I have a green KRG Bravo stock that I’m not using.Attachment Attached File

Mostly windy (up to 6+/- MPH) today again at my range: Riverbend Gun Club in Dawsonville, GA. However there were a few moments the wind died down which I tried to take advantage of.

This web site requires an account to see anything at all.  So, that doesn't work.

Very nice and thank you!  The green KRG stock is actually what I am planning on getting.  If you're not using it let me know and I'd be happy to give you some cash and take it off your hands

@Zeebz curious as to why you'd buy the chassis version when you are just goin to swap it out?

Also what are you going to do with the chassis? I might be interested

I am in love with my 16" varmint chassis. Mine shoots eley club better than the ten-ex lineup so that's what I mainly shoot. Midas plus will put up some impressive groups but the club shoots 80% as well for less than 50% the price.

@speedball

Honestly I bought it because it was the only version of the 457 still available with a 24" heavy barrel.  I wanted the Manners stock variant but those seem to have been discontinued with the 24" barrel and now you can only find them with a 16" barrel from what I have gathered.  I'd have settled for a varmint model with the 20" barrel, but I've only been able to find the 17 HMR and 22 WMR chamberings online.

As for the chassis I am doing a trade with bubba556 for his KRG Bravo stock.

Yes I know what you mean - I’m looking at a new 457 and really can’t figure why they don’t have anything between a 16 and a 24.  I well guess I’ll just get a Lilja replacement sooner!

They offer a 20" in the varmint. That is what I have. I dropped it in a Oryx chassis. It's just not threaded. They were offering a 20" fluted and threaded for their long range precision that has the match chamber if you wanted to stick with CZ. Aftermarket is there as you mentioned.

Damn man, great shooting!  Those are some very solid groups.  What ammo were you running through it?

Those were Eley Team, Club, RWS, SK and CCI standard velocity. The larger groups are CCI. It doesn't like it for what ever reason but when I buy a brick of it for my 22/45 I usually lot test a box in the 457 just to check it. Club is the same way but slightly smaller groups. The Euro ammo outside of Club all shoots about the same.

Is the comb height adjustable by a few notches or is is a slider with infinite adjustment?
