Hornady 168 grain AMAXs will stay 3.5-4 inches at 500 yards most everything else is over an MOA I've never found the SVD to be a very comfortable rifle to shoot, but I drag it out now and again for fun...... |

Colt MT6601 16" Dissipator
30 Rounds @100 yards. Ammo was lowly Bosnian green tip. I don't save many targets for this gun as it is boringly consistent. This one was a little special as I never expected to see nearly one big ragged hole. It looked like this at the time The lower was shared with a 50BMG single shot upper, hence it being ugly and bulky. The barrel is the standard 1/7 hbar with a DCM tube under the handguards Trigger is a 3.5lb accuracy speaks. Scope was a 1-4x Millet DMS. It looks a little better these days and wears a Leupold. 20141010_153355_LLS_1 by Slick_Rick77, on Flickr I'm considering going back to the fixed stock for simplicity and smoothness. |

Finally got back out to the range.
My version of a MK12 Mod H. Instead of a 16" and Ops can I used a 14.5" (1:7) and my SAS can. Quarter MOA<---Stolen from DDJ on my FB account. My buddy doing the Positional Shooting Challenge. with it. I'm still limping around, halfway using crutches. Hopefully next week I'll be able to jump around again. |

These were the only 10 shots fired this day. The 5 shots near the dot with a black mark beside them are from 600 yards the other 5 shots which are key holed were from 770 yards. With my handloads in the atmospheric conditions on the day this target was shot the bullets were dropping below the speed of sound just after 700 yards. Either way - good shooting Thank you and yes it was a calm day. I have developed good wind reading ability from learning with a 223, but to be honest I normally don't try to shoot my ar15 beyond 600 yards in windy conditions. We get a lot of wind here so I got myself a 260 now for those windy days. The 260 isn't magical though and you still have to be able to make good wind calls in some of the conditions I've shot it in. I haven't had it long though and I haven't had it beyond 900 yards yet either. Here is a group from 900 yards I fired recently with my 260 from the same location of the 900 yard group with my ar15 that I posted. I'm having some trouble with vertical stringing that I need to get figured out, but I think it's my reloads needing a little more attention to detail. I have more testing to do yet. To show that even the 260 can have troubles in the wind here is a 5 round group from 800 yards with the 260 with winds of 16 mph from my 4 to 5 o'clock position with gusts of up to 28 mph. I was only able to get 4 of the 5 shots on target, but this was my first time out this far with my 260 and these were the only 5 shots taken this day. I had the time and wanted to collect some dope on the rifle so conditions be damned I tried it anyway. |
