Looking at close outs on Nikon tactical line as well as their other lines. Are nikons great scopes? Does nikon have a sleeper scope that is just fantastic?

Nikon is not top of the line but not junk either. I have a couple on hunting rifles and for the money they do fine.

Nikon made great budget scopes.  Too bad they got woke and no longer make rifle scopes.

I bought three of the Nikon FX1000 4-16x50's that were on clearance.  Finally got to the range earlier this month and used them.  I am quite happy with them so far.  Came home and ordered a 4th.  Then decided to buy RPR in 5.56 and bought the 6-24x50 FX1000.

The zero stop is very easy to use.  Glass is good. (Obviously not on par with my Razor or XRS, but as good or better than Vipers) Tracking was good for zeroing, all movements dialed the correct amount, but I did not do a box test or tall target test.

IMO, a great deal for the money.

I have a few monarch 1-4x with the German #4 reticle

i really like them, and so disappointed to hear they are exiting the scope market

I have a P-Tactical 3x32. I wish the turrets were shorter, but I assume that contains the pull-up to zero the turret. The marks are close together, so I suggest Sharpie-ing the quarters.

Otherwise it's still tracking accurately with several trips 18 MOA up and down.

I'd like a 3-9x with MOA reticle.

I have a Nikon Monarch from the early 2000's.  It is one very nice scope.  View is amazing, track is perfect.  Got the same scope one generation newer and it sucked compared to the older one.  If you can find older ones used, they are worth the cash.

Nikon makes great glass. Dont forget, they are one of the worlds leading camera manufacturers. They know a thing or two about glass.

I picked up the Black on sale and may very well get another. I've thought their gear was extremely competitive even at normal pricing. At the closeout prices....Its a goddamn steal.

I also bought a 4-16x50 FX1000 and was equally impressed, so much so that I also bought another one.

The first one lives on a CZ457 Varmint and the second one is on an AR15.  Very pleased with them.
