I am new to magnified optics, and I dont have access to a 100 yard range. I have a 4x ACOG and a 1.5x mini ACOG but the only range I have access to is a 15 yard range. I was wondering if it is possible to use a laser bore sight to get a 100 yard zero?

Any help would be appreciated.

I just want to make sure I understand (correctly) what you are asking...

So you want to know if you can zero your rifle (@ 100 yards) without actually shooting the rifle - is that correct?  What degree of precision are you hoping for???

A little info needed here!

.223 caliber?

55 grain bullet?

3120 fps velocity

16 inch barrel?

See where were heading here?

A 50 yard zero with the above will be a little high at 100, zero at 200 and 7" low at 300 yards.

About 1.25 inch low at 15yards will get you close!

4x ACOG 20" bbl, 1/7 twist lake city m193.

Also have a 1.5X ACOG 16" bbl 1/7 with m193.

Yes unfortunately I'm looking to do this with shooting at a short range like 15 yards. I'm running a liquidation for a retail company, i have a 3 year old and my wife is ready to pop with our second boy. After 60 hour work weeks I can't get to any good ranges with 50 yard or 100 yard targets.

Just trying to get them zeroed in the best I can before November.

Start with a good cartridge chamber laser.

Let us know the center of bore and at how many feet and we can run some simulations with the data you provided above.

Or, it would be an easy learning experience to do it yourself.

Either way, you need a good quality chamber laser.

If you want to sight in at 100 but can’t, use a 25/100 target.

Download the 3rd one down:

http://arma-dynamics.com/red-dot-zero-targets.html

Edit:

Surely you can find a 25 yard range. I’ve never even heard of a 15 yard one.

Would my zero change any if I was using a 20" bbl with m193?

And thank you all for all the help.

Marginally. I would download the 25 yard target for the 50/200 yard zero. I believe you'd be closer with hits throughout a greater range of distances for whatever variables are incurred by using the longer barrel.

It is a 4x ACOG with the original acss reticle. I need the 100 yard zero so the bullet drops line up right?

And thank you for taking the time out to help a moron with zeroing scopes.

If the ACSS subtensions call for a 100 yard zero use the 25/100 yard target. Are you realistically going to be reaching out to 300-???. I think that will get you close enough given the tools you have available.

If you can find 25 yards/meters, you can properly zero an ACOG on a 5.56mm. In the Army, we zeroed at 25m. The trajectory crosses your line of sight at 25 & 300 with a 5.56mm AR. What you will need to do, is check out the details on your specific model ACOG, as sometimes you’re supposed to use a less than obvious hold point on the reticle to do this.
