Has anyone used a nightforce nx8 2.5-20x50mm what are your thoughts?

Does anyone have any alternatives in this price range to recommend ?

This is going on a mk12 style rifle

I have an NX8 1-8 on my rifle. Love it.

Go see Rangerwalker in the EE.

I've enjoyed the 2.5-20x on a hunting AR and a bench gun.

The depth of field is more generous on the ATACR 4-16x42.  If you'll be shooting under time pressure like a DMR match, that one may feel a little easier to use at speed.

If you use the 2.5-20 in the 4-16 range is the experience similar or is that apple’s and oranges ?

USA made Burris XTR III 3.3-18x beats the pants off the nx8. And it’s $999 at cameralandNY right now.

No better deal on optics anywhere.

I have a razor 4.5-22 on my 6.5cm bolt gun an it's pretty great. The illumination button sucks but outside of that I save 7oz over the nx8 and have better eye box characteristics. Ymmv.

They are roughly similar.

Again, the ATACR's depth of field will make the image easier to acquire and flatter (until you adjust the parallax out). The glass is better on the ATACR.   FOV is actually wider on the NX8 at max power.

I looked at the NX8 for a long time.  Then went for the Leopold Mk 5.  Happy.
