I am interested in a bolt action, but I received this email from PSA with this little gem:
PSA 6.5 Creedmoor AR10 What do y'all think? |

1. PSA is awesome
2. Autoloaders in 6.5 can be a little finicky and may require tuning. The 6.5 cartridge geometry doesn’t lend itself to smooth feeding the same way .308 does. 3. If you buy a bolt action, get a Tikka. The end. |
|
If you think you’ve got problems now, just wait until you see the solution.
Just say “Chi-nope.” |

I am partial to bolt action in 6.5 creedmoor so take it for what it is worth. Are you looking for a precision rifle for long distance, or for plinking or hunting?
I have heard good things about the Bergera B14 HMR for hunting, plinking and dabbling in PRS. If I was going to buy a rifle for PRS competition, I would get Masterpiece arms MPA BA PMR Competition Rifle |

View Quote The Gen 3 PA-10s have adjustable gas blocks so tuning should be easier. |

I suggest just building one off of an Aero set like I did. Six five gasser are finicky more often than not, unless you get into the JP class of guns. You'll probably be upgrading the barrel and trigger anyway, and you'll probably have to buy a JP HP bolt and firing pin, adjustable gas block to tune the system to run right/better, which would leave you with a PSA receiver set and bolt carrier with left over parts.

My dad has a PSA PA65 rifle. It did have to go back to PSA immediately due to the barrel touching the handguard on 1 side, but it's been good after that. He did put a Larue MBT2S trigger in it before firing. I went to the range with him the first time he shot it. He got the gas block adjusted, and I shot 5 shots from it. My first and only 5 shots from that rifle landed in a .67" group at 100 yards using Hornady Black. Seems to be a good rifle for the money.
I have a JP level 6.5CM rifle, and would consider the PSA gun if I needed a cheaper 2nd gun. |

My LMT MWS MARS in 6.5 is great so far but PMAGs do NOT drop free. I may need to contact the manufacturer.

A close friend has the PSA 6.5 and it’s a 1moa rifle with Hornady factory match ammo that has so far fed 100% from mags.
When I say 1moa that’s based on 4 5 shot strings so not to bad for a auto loader with factory barrel. |

DD5V4 in 6.5 runs like a champ, suppresses and unsurpassed. I understand those that want a bolt gun, but I'm not trying to make mine a mile rifle. I love the thing.

Pretty sure the OP is looking at the AR10 platform. Bergara makes a good rifle though |

I am a big fan of PSA's. As many have mentioned they can be a bargain shooter, and IMHO a solid foundation.
My profile pic is a PSA, rebarreled with a Criterion 6.5CM barrel, and all the tuning / assm. tricks I thought useful. |

$900 for a 6.5 Creedmoor gas gun? I paid more than that for my DPMS 6.5 Creedmoor when I bought it 9 years ago. I’d buy that gun and several hundred rounds of ammo and start wearing out that barrel practicing.
