Looking for a mid range hunting scope and like this one.  There are a few reticle configurations but I have a choice between the Duplex and the Windplex.  The Windplex is actually coming in on sale $100 less than the Duplex.  Anyone have any experience with this scope? Thanks.

I have this scope in 3-15x56. I prefer the firedot duplex for a hunting reticle. It isn't cluttered and keeps it simple for low light. I leave it on the lowest setting and when the daylight fades, the dot is just bright enough to aim but not too bright for a dark target. Everyone that has looked through it has been amazed at the light transmission of this scope. We have three in my group of hunting buddies right now and two more are shopping for one now and that's coming from decent glass already (Nightforce, Trijicon, and Swarovski).

Whichever is cheaper.
Windplex shouldn't be very cluttered either. If it's cheaper than Duplex, that is what I would buy.

Yep got the windplex.  690.00 delivered from Optics Planet, cheapest I've seen.  I'm thinking it is ideal for a hunting and 500 yd range gun because I can dial for elevation and hold for wind.  Reticle looks good.  Maybe a tad thick for fine precision work but any finer and I think you would lose it in the woods at low light.  The scope looks great, images are super sharp, huge eye relief, and its lite.  I think its perfect for the intended purpose on R700 5R Gen 2 20" in 308.

I have 2 of these VX5 scopes, seems like a great value for the glass and I'm really liking the firedot for hunting at dusk.
