I need realistically to 600yds so I should be looking at one marketed for 800 or 1,000?
What’s a good value for casual use? |

I like my leupold, small, works great out over 1000 yards and priced right.

Sig Kilo 2000 or similar Sig.
Great performance for the cost. |

Sig kilo for the win

Another vote for Sig Kilo. Easy peasy. Ergonomics, accuracy, it works like a champ!

OK, Redcoat. See you later...

I have a Nikon prostaff that I pick up recently does 600 pretty fast but has an orange backlight that is useless at dusk and dawn if your using it for hunting avoid that feature

The Vortex Ranger 1800 will do all you need. They run about $350.

I have a Leupold RX-850i TBR that is virtually new in the box that I will sell for $200 shipped. Spec'd 6-850 yards. IM me if interested.

Interested in seeing the replies. I went cheap, and picked up one of these for $80. It says 1200 yards, but ... yea.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07QKQT6RV I will say, I was able to range a building about 800 yards away, and it worked well, even in a light drizzle. Didn't have chance to go any further. A building vs a gong or a deer is likely much easier, so who knows if it will really work in the field for that. Also, once you get out there, holding the thing steady enough to use is a real challenge. Some of the more expensive units have stabilizers, which likely help quite a lot. But for $80 and it did work at least at 800 yards, which is as far as I was able to find a target to test it against, was pretty good. |

In the same boat as OP. My issue with Sig and Leupold is their crap warranties. I've been eyeing the Razor 4000. It will get me the dustance I need and a lifetime warranty. Other than that I dont care for Vortex in general.

Wife won a cert from Vortex for 50% off. We used it for the Fury HD 5000 Range Finding Binoculars. Money well spent IMHO. Great glass and a serious range finder without moving up to a terrapin.
