I have a shit ton of heavy 6mm bullets and a slightly smaller stash of heavy 6.5 bullets. I'm looking to pick up a rifle, just curious about what seems to be the go to round that everyone is using. I wont be shooting any factory ammo, so that is not a consideration.

The Seekins comes in the ctgs that I was most interested in (the GT) but the DD rifle I was looking at comes stock in 6.5 Creedmoor and 6 Creedmoor. If you had to choose between the two versions of Creedmoor, would you go with the 6? Looks like it has the same capacity as a 6XC that I'm familiar with. B |

B Seeing as you are just getting into the sport the cartridge will be low on the list of things to worry about. Both the 6.5 or 6 would work. I have shot both and still do. Seeing as you had a lot of 6mm bullets figured that would be the route you would want to go but if you wanted to go 6.5 then that’s fine too. The trend in the sport which is now being called “barricade benchrest” is very heavy rifles in light recoiling 6mm cartridges and some even going down to .22 calibers now like the 22 Dasher or BR. Doesn’t mean you can’t get into it with any cartridge and go shoot and have fun. Don’t let the cartridge be the sticking point as after your first match you will be trying to figure out many other things beside the cartridge. Are you set on buying a factory rifle? |

B You could buy a factory rifle but you will probably end up changing a good deal of it eventually. Production in PRS is a joke as far as I am concerned as they keep bumping up the price limit and you keep getting guys dropping to it to sandbag to get a trophy. It’s not like USPSA. Buying a Bighorn/Zermatt Origin and building is a great idea. You can get barrels prefit so they just screw on and they take any 700 stock or chassis and trigger. Also with the Origin or TL3 you can swap bolt heads so you can have different calibers. Patriot Valley Arms has their Osprey barrels in stock and can spin up one in a 6mm or 6.5 or both and you can swap at home. I have a TL3 that I have a 6.5 Cree and 2 6 Creed barrels for and also have a .223 barrel. Worth looking into before buying factory. |

Also forgot to add the used market is a great place to step in also. Go look at Snipers Hide and they have a lot of good deals in the PX on rifles or barreled actions or parts to build. Can save some money.

Based on your situation, a 6mm cartridge makes sense. There are some factory rifles that are very good from places like Masterpiece Arms and GA Precision as well.

Just get a AT-X and shoot 6.5 a while or sell the barrel for $600 and get a 6gt or cm
Or put 4 parts together. Lone peak or terminus action Prefit barrel in 6gt or 6cm (factory ammo for both ) Trigger of your choice Stock of your choice. Easy Oh and dry fire a lot and buy a waxed canvas schmedium game changer Don’t expect to place high for a long time. Is a blast. |

I have a friend that has a Delta 5 I'm going to look at, but I really changed my mind on this. Rather than get a gun, I'm going to shoot what I have. I just ordered a 15" Geissele Mk 4 rail and a new gas block. I need to get a couple of more doo dads and I should be good to go. I do have to get a bag. What about that Git-Lite filler, is it worth the extra $50? I've done a fair amount of long range competitive shooting in other disciplines. I have no illusions, as the skills are quite different. B |
