Looking to build a 6.5 CM load for my Savage 10 FCP-SR (24 inch barrel). Here's what I'm thinking so far:

Bullet - Hornady 140gr ELD-M
Brass - Lapua
Primer - ?
Powder- RL 16

As for charge, I'm thinking of starting at 39 grain and working up from there. COAL should be about 2.8", unless I'm mistaken. How does this look so far?

Looks pretty good.  RL 16 has an every so slightly faster burn rate than H4350 so you may want to back it off just a touch and work up.  It's probably fine, but just a word of caution from my experience using it all season.  I use FGMM primers but regular federal will work too.

I used 42.3 grains of Reloder 16 with 147gr ELDs.
Been very happy with that load. Tested in 6 different rifles so far and it's been great in all of them.

I’m having pretty good luck with Hornady brass, Federal 210 M primers. Pushing Hornady 143 grain ELD-X @ 2800 FPS. I’ve settled @41.3 Grains of Hogdon 4350. Groups great in my Ruger precision enhanced 6.5 CM. There are no visible pressure signs. Primer nicely flattened but no crater around the firing pin.

I have a wicked load right now for mine.

Alpha Brass
CCI LRP #200 primers
42 grains of H4350
Berger 130 AR hybrid

Trued down range muzzle velocity is 2950+ fps out of 26" barrel
3/8MOA groups @ 100yds

Absolutely no signs of pressure and only dialing 7.4mils to 1,000yds

Right Rudder,

Are you using Hornady brass?

What is your primer and OCL?

I finally found some RL16 and want to try it.

Have you chronographed it in a 24 inch?

I'm using mixed brass but mainly Hornady. Slowly switching to Starline.
I chronoed the load with a labradar

My exact powder load/bullet, just a little slower out of a 24" bbl. It makes 1000 seem trivial in low mirage/light wind doesn't it? And it seemed like I have to hold less for wind than the guys running 140gr+
