ETA: So, I decided on 6.5 creed. I have a krieger blank (8 twist, standard palma profile) enroute.
So, now Im looking for what a recommendation for a trigger. I have been looking at the Bix'N Andy triggers, probably a two stage, since its what I shoot the most as a service rifle shooter. Does anyone have any experience with them? Any other suggestions? As far as a stock, I am leaning towards a Manners with their mini chassis. I like the look of a more traditional stock, but I like the user serviceability of a chassis (not having to bed the stock). Is anyone using the manners with the mini chassis? So, I got talked into a build by a buddy of mine. Just paid for an Impact Precision 737R, and it should be here soon. We are wanting to do some PRS matches. We talked about doing dashers, gay tigers, but are leaning towards 6.5 Creed. Only reason Im considering the Creedmoor is because of the availability of components, and factory ammo should I ever need it. So for 1,000 shooting, what do you guys recommend? Im also open to other caliber suggestions. |

6 Creedmoor.
Reloading components and good factory ammo are just as available as 6.5 and 6mm is a better choice for PRS. |

I like 6.5C. Im a big fan of the Swede and the opportunity to get 6.5 Swede performance in a short action was too attractive to me. My friend went with 300prc and it has been VERY impressive. If I was starting over Id probably pic the 300prc.
I’ll tell you what not to buy.... the 6.5prc. Brass seems to be unobtainable. |

Either the 6.5 or 6 Creed. Both will do what you want. Both have a lot of good bullets and set up right will have little recoil. Both also have factory ammo available if you need it.
A .308 will do it also but a 13.5 barrel is laughable for matches. Get a 26” and use good bullets and you can compete in Tac. You are just getting into the sport and learning. You won’t be a “top guy” so don’t stress what the “top guys” are using. Pick a caliber you can get reasonably good barrel life with and will be easy and affordable to shoot as that is how you get better. You can easily change down the road to a different caliber if you wanted. |

6creed if you think you’d want to get serious about PRS and have a wind cheater, 6.5creedmoor if you’ll likely shoot mostly at the range and maybe a few PRS matches if you get the itch.
Honestly, either will work fine. The 6.5creed may be easier for spotting trace better if you have a great brake and have a heavy setup. The 6.5’s kick up quite a bit of dust on misses. The 6creed can be equally as effective and cheat the wind a bit better, but some view it as harder to spot trace as easy inside of 4-500yds if running it at 3000+fps due to how quick it gets there. If you’re asking about needing a dasher, you likely don’t. They are stupid easy to find a load for, but fireforming brass, special mags and mag feeding issues may be more headache than you’d want. Also, the go to powder for the”BR” variants is Varget. Some have experimented with other powders, but Varget is the go to powder. If you’re not sitting on 8+lbs of Varget, or don’t mind paying 450-500$ for 8lbs, I’d steer away from a BR based case currently. Powders are becoming easier to get, but Varget sells out in under 3-5mins when it’s available. Just something to consider. The 6GT is a solid option, but there’s currently limited factory ammo, if that’s a concern. So, you can go 6creed, have factory options, lots of brass options, and the ability to “de-tune” it down to sub 3000fps by running a powder like h4831 or 4451 compared to h4350. |

You can load the 6 Creed under 3000fps with H4350. Not hard and accurate loads.

View Quote Indeed; I just noticed better std. dev numbers when going with some of the other powders when trying to push 105’s sub 2900fps. I’m guessing it was due to having slightly more case fill. Admittedly I don’t use those loads currently since H4350 and the 110’s work great and is easy to get in the 2925-3000fps range. |

True. Just loaded the 110s at 2930 area with H4350 and they hammer and great SD.

6.5CM is a great choice considering your desire for factory ammo. Stepping up to a 7mm pill like .284 shehane or 284Win or a 7SAUM is a big improvement in performance but has a little more recoil and less ammo availability for sure.
