If the universal does what you need then just go with it. Also that rod is a good rod. I have a few of the Tiptons after bending one of my Deweys I have them a shot and really liked them. You can make it work with a .30 if you don't want to buy another rod.

Don't know about the bore guide, but the Tipton rod you have picked out is excellent.
Well worth the money. The coated Dewey (I have two) feels cheap in comparison. |

What you really want is a rod guide that fits the body of the rod closely.

I use a couple. I have a Lucas and a possum hollow with the appropriate solvent port adapters as I use it on a couple calibers. I always use a bore guide.
