Where exactly is the length of the barrel measured from? Is it from the barrel extension/barrel intersection to the front of the barrel, or is it from the back of the barrel extension to the front of the barrel?

My understanding is chamber face to the end of the muzzle (muzzle device if permanently attached). I could be wrong though.
