I'm not a fan of the manfrotto qr system and noticed the arca system recently. What is needed to attach the hog saddle to the manfrotto ball head. It looks like I need a boss key, arca base and an arca mount but would like info from those who have the setup.

Thanks

I'm not following, of you have a hog saddle why do you need arca?

If you're just wanting to convert the manfrotto to arca there are kits out there.  I have no idea how robust they are.

The hog saddle has a monfrotto qd mount. It has a rubber mat on top that in the desert heat melts and allows the rifle to spin in the mount.

I want to replace the monfrotto style qd with the arca on the hog saddle.

Can you show us a pic OP? my chassis has the Arca rail machined in, but they make Arca rails that bolt on most rifles... then all you need is an Arca Swiss type ball head for your tripod...

Attachment Attached File

You maybe able to just remove the top of the ball head and screw on an Arca Swiss clamp...see the screw head in the middle of the clamp...

This is a buddy's rifle that we just screwed a 6" Arca rail to..works great...

@AKSnowRider.   What tripod and ball mount do you have? I like that yours can hold the rifle solid.

I bought one off of ebay and one off of Amazon.  I used to have a Neewer and a SLIK tripod.  Now I have two Neewer's.

Nice, but that one is slightly different, it is slightly taller at 66" versus 63", it has 25mm thick legs versus 28mm thick legs and it is rated weight wise slightly lower, 26.5 pound capacity versus 33 pound capacity..not sure it makes a difference...

My original purchase was the second from the far right...
