Wanting a nice bolt action .22. Almost confident I want the Tikka. I'm only seeing 16" barrel models in stock with 20" models available. For 22 LR does the 4" make a huge difference?

I'm sure it depends on the ammo, but I read about experiments people have done with rimfire rifles, shooting over a chronograph and then subsequently and repeatedly cutting off the end of the barrel and trying again, usually in one or two inch intervals. As I recall 16" in rimfire led to the highest velocity.
If shooting unsuppressed, I think the report is definitely noticeably louder on the 16". |
