How common is it for a spring to break in these type of traps? I'm not a trapper so I'm not very familiar with these traps. The one I have that broke is a Duke #220 if that matters at all.

I guess I should mention, I did store it with the springs compressed.

i'm no expert, but i wouldn't store them compressed.  idk, just my personal feelings and have no factual data to back up my feelings.  however, Duke's are cheaply made.  several companies sell replacement springs.

Thanks for they reply. I was just really surprised to find it like that. I'll have to see what it takes to replace a spring.

EDIT: I'm guessing since you mentioned replacement spring are available...then either they break or loose spring tension over time.

Had a Duke 330 spring snap year before last.
