The tragedy in Miami and every time a building collapse around the world makes me think:

What would you do if you were in your apartment / condo and the next building collapsed. The authorities would probably tell you to evacuate.

Are you prepared to leave fast?  What would you bring? Where would you go?

Not a factor in my life, nor a concern.

Golden rule applies.

Help however I can without putting myself at undue risk given my training.

Evacuate if requested.

I would probably try to help dig for survivors.

Lay down in the rubble and call a lawyer?

No two story buildings within walking distance...  Now if the neighbors Heifer fell over, I might hear that.

Broken gas lines, live electrical wires and falling chunks of concrete? I’m thinking I’m going to get the hell out of the way and let those with training and proper protective equipment deal with it.

I choose to not live in places like that.

Did the OP see the picture of the collapsed building?  Frankly, there is nothing you can do if you are in that situation.  Pray maybe.

Those buildings remind me of some kind of soviet era collective.  No thanks.

If the building you are in collapses then you will be lucky to survive with the clothes on your back.

If you need to bug out with zero warning for some other reason, such as a train carrying caustic chemicals derailed, your house is downwind, and you have minutes to GTFO then you better have your important papers in one envelope ready to grab and go.  Everything else is stuff.
