I've got everything to get on the air now, save for a few hundred feet of nice coax... Cheap RadioShack RG58 will have to do for now...

But when I first started, HRD was the thing to use for digital... Since that went paid, what's the go to software now?

Fldigi. But you won't hardly find anything on the air except FT8, for which you need something called WSJT-X.
