I'm fishing a bay charter. They're using double 4oz weights that don't seem to be holding with the current.

I'm thinking of using a 4oz spider weight (spider weights typically used for surf fishing). Is this a good idea for these bayc fishing boats?

Surf fishing, I'd just drive a nail or two thru the weights to keep them from rolling.

Lip or Carolina sinkers up to 10oz is what we use for rough conditions.
