Attached File
Got this big boy just before dark last night. About 40 yards, 150 gr. 300 Savage out of my model 99. Called my buddy, and waited about half an hour. Went to the spot I shot him -- no blood. Both of us searching, can't find any blood anywhere. I knew I hadn't missed, and it got quiet real fast after I shot, so I didn't think he ran too far. While I'm still looking for blood, my buddy starts zig zagging up the trail the bear had come down. He goes about 50 yards and says, "bring the sled!" He was dead in a puddle of blood. Got him through the lungs, so no death moan. Dressed weight: Attached File live weight was probably over 300 pounds. |

A socialist may indeed be academically superior.
And yet, they are most certainly emotionally retarded. Minion of Snow #006 Public education is the opiate of the masses. |

Cool pic, OP
I really wish I could tell the size of the bear I deal with. Only reference I have beside seeing it, is a footprint in my garage that's just bigger than my size 9.5 foot. Fucker has been in my garage (left open by wife), on the deck, and rips my garbage apart if I take it down to the street the night before pickup. Never thought to actually kill it unless I had to, but I did bring my silenced BCM Recce (.223) along when I got the call my garbage was slung across the road. What's your plan with the meat/hide? Also, were you hunting bear or was it an encounter that ended well? |

Meat is going in the freezer and will be eaten like my two previous bears were. I think I am going to get a shoulder mount done, too. |

Not a dinner pic, but we had the heart for dinner last night. Attached File
Attached File Sauteed the pieces in butter and onions, with salt and pepper. Delicious, nice and tender. Can't wait until the rest comes back from the butcher. |
