I think I'm accumulating too many generators.
Current fleet:
- Champion 9k dual fuel generator; non-inverter. Very clean power for non-inverter. It has "automatic voltage regulation" as a feature. Over 800 hours on it iirc.
- Briggs 3.5k propane only; non-inverter. The power is dirty. Runs fine though. RV ready.
- Off-brand 3k gasoline only; non-inverter. Pretty clean power actually for a non-inverter. Currently the carb needs to be cleaned, as it is gummed up. Has (4) 20 amp outlets. My first generator.
- HF 2 stroker; lol. finicky to start, must keep starter fluid on hand. runs fine once running. must mix fuel. decently clean power and quiet.
And I just ordered a Champion 4k dual fuel open frame inverter generator.
In my mind, I only need 3 generators. I need a huge generator for running the whole house (the 9k). I need the new 4k for running the RV and/or running the house with lower wattage usage (like in winter or overnight to save fuel). The little HF 2 stroker generator runs my RV in spring/fall when we need to use the furnace and not the A/C.
I'm actually thinking of upgrading the HF 2 stroker to a 1k-ish Champion inverter there too.
Its easy to want to keep all these, but I need less crap to store, not more.
Should I pickle them or gift them to who may need them?
It is always hard to get rid of stuff, but I am trying to stop storing so much crap.
I'm thinking of gifting my sister (they are just getting going in life with 3 kids under 3) either the gas only off-brand or the propane only Briggs (their choice), or maybe crate them up and put them in the shed? I could build crates on pallets so I could stack them. Such a fine line between preparedness and hoarding...
Thoughts?
