Besides being carried by an idiot...

It's a Motorola HT750...one of a dozen we use for onsite coms at work.  Last night I was leading a "creatures of the night" nature hike and it slipped off my belt and into the creek.  Was powered on at the time.  Radio was under about 18" of water for 2-3 minutes, and when I got it out I turned it off.  30 minutes later I was able to remove the battery and use compressed air in an attempt to help it dry, then I left it open and in front of a fan all night.  Today I tried it and, of course, nada.  There is the audible beep when it's powered on, but no transmit or receive capability.

What says the herd....toast?  Repairable?  If repairable, what is the most likely thing to have fried/broke?

Not worth fixing. You can buy them used for $40 USD...standard shop time is upwards of $90 an hour but with water immersion (in a non-immersion rated radio) she'll need at least 4 hours of shop time replacing components and re-aligning and probably about $150 worth of components.

Leave it unassembled in a warm place... in the car with the windows up is good.

Then hose it down, all over the inside, the circuit boards, switches, everything you can reach
with Corrosion Guard (This may be discontinued or name change, by Waterguard USA) or
Corrosion-X.   I still have one bottle left of Corrosion Guard, but I buy Corrosion-X in the
16 oz pump bottle.  This product stops corrosion right now.

I did this...

Baofeng GT-3 torture test and tear down

And then this...

Baofeng GT-3 torture test (dunk)

To a Baofeng and it is still alive and kicking just dry it out at low temps as quickly as possible.

Sounds like you made a brick. I'd pick up a cheap one off of fleabay.

If you can't fix it, consider on of these. It's $35, water resistant and shares the same accessory connection as the HT750 so all your accessories should work with it.

Not Part 90 type certified...it's a no go for the OP's use case. It is actually registered with the FCC as an Amateur radio with the FCC ID linking to a Part 15 TA.
