That was my son holding it he was helping me with some dirty stuff in the yard. Funny thing is it did "Go" on him while he was holding it.

it's an eastern garter snake. Good thing your son was wearing gloves, garters use a nasty musk smell as a defense mechanism. Never bothered me when I was a kid, I had dozens of them. They eat frogs, worms, slugs... that sort of stuff. Harmless.
