Looking at the 4patriots package.
They have what i want to buy and its packaged perfectly for us non preppers, but the web site reminds me of the tv commercials for the blue hairs.

Am i a blue hair geezer? Really Hope not. But i have 52 anyos under my belt so…

Anyway i looked around afcom for a couple hours and found not what i want to know.

Plz suggest me a less gimicky company to get a simple portable solar “system”.

For reference the 4P package has

This pic kills my want to buy from them..

Also looked at renology and like them much better but i need to know what pieces to put together.

Am i missing some other source?

Thanks, i will check back for response later, but i gotta go now, i finally got the rabbit ears tuned and Jeopardy is on the tv.

Jackery has been mentioned several times on here.  Seem to get good feedback

https://www.jackery.com/

Bluetti is also popular

Goal Zero

Those seem to be three of the more popular.  Lots of off brand ones on Amazon as well

How much solar, what cost? 768 WH is not very much storage these days.

Here's Hobotech's very negative review:  See his other videos for reviews of modern solar generators.

I went for something like this, but actually via Amazon.  And Bluetti AC200p since the Max wasn't out yet.

Expandable with more panels or with more storage.

Second Jackery. I have their 300 and will be getting their 1500 when we can afford it.

I bought an electric pan and thermos on Amazon, was able to boil a thermos of water in five minutes then make a four egg omelet and it brought the generator down to about 60-70%. The solar panel works well depending on cloud cover, but recharged it in an acceptable time, maybe a couple of hours.

Consider what you want the power bank to do, and work backwards from there.

What do you want to power?
For how long?
Guess or calculate the power consumption (watts)
Add 10-25% for losses/fudge factor.
Get a battery bank that supports that power drain.
Then get solar panels that can charge up in whatever time you feel appropriate.

Most manufacturers are optimistic about what their solar generators can power and for how long.

IMHO I think you’re gonna want a lot more KWH than that. I’d look at a EcoFlow Delta pro with bluetti 400 watt solar if you want an all in one “portable” system

I’m going to be going with an ecoflow delta max and spare battery

$2500 for less than 1kwh of storage?  Not a great deal, unless I'm missing something.

Jackery and Bluetti have 1.5-3kwh systems in that price range.  If portability is a big deal I'd look at them.  If less so, you could go cheaper with other solar panels and their base station, or home assemble everything (a little more knowledge required).

Check out Will Prowse YouTube channel and he also sells a book on Amazon for like 12.00 and tons of information on beginning in advance solar systems.

I lied his book is $5.40 now.
