activated a new park today... damn if 20m band didn't cooperate at all
just over an hour for 30 contacts there were also a bunch of assholes on today. I should stick with doing weekday activations. |

I did notice more than usual 'tuner fish' for some reason.
I had 2 POTA QSO's today; one in RI, the other outside Toronto. RI was on 20 meters, the other on 40 meters. I heard their 'QRZ' gave my call and boom they came right back to me via phone. |

I got 8293 too

I picked up a Cyber Monday Eberlestock Switchblade for POTA. Looks like it's going to be pretty ideal for the 891. Will post pics when I get it set up.

Quick activation. Was on for about 40 min. Many of those contacts was me hunting.

I heard one today set up less than 10 miles from me. He was on 20 meters activating a park and he was 10 over S9.
I thought about dropping down to 5 watts and giving him a call, but he was pretty busy with calls from all over the country. It would be been amusing to talk less than 10 miles on 20 meters. LOL |

Here in NOVA I've been hearing SOTA or POTA activations on 2m calling almost every weekend. They have no problem quickly getting QSOs.
|
|
|
Unfortunately it's flat as can be here so 2m going any impressive distance is rare. Unless you can get on a building, bridge or airplane.

I use a wrist-rocket slingshot, 12lb fishing line and a sinker
ZINGGGG over the tree, then use the fishing line to hoist up some stronger twine pretty quick to setup my QRPKITS 20/40 dipole |

View Quote That said, I had an error once in a submitted log. I checked everything and couldn't see the issue, so I re-sent the exact same file to my area coordinator, and that time it went through. I chalked it up to some weird corruption in the email process. That, or the POTA log entry system was having a bad day. |

I know how to use the NB and Notch... otherwise some of the ground floor noise here in FL really sucks (lots of power lines going all over) (or something else?) |

I wanted to go hunting on Saturday, but some contest was in full operation,
so I turned off the radio and won't turn it on again until tomorrow, maybe. |

Has anyone else noticed that HAMRS can't figure out how to put DX on the map ? My wife runs HAMRS while I run the radio, but whenever I get europe or even PR, it doesn't bring up the location when logging, and later fails to drop a pin on the built-in map. |

You guys doing POTA in GA. Were you on with a YL and another ham from a park that ended in 73? If so, I worked you.
|
|
Don't confuse where I live with where I'm from.

I have a good idea abt who you worked. Husband and wife team. Those two live north of me about twenty miles
ETA: they haven't activated in a week, so maybe it wasn't them. |

I will be doing POTA down and up the Keys M-F on 20M I'm going to try to do at least one activation a day. I brought 100w and a vertical with me, so I should get out. Kinda hoping I pick up an Alaska station backwards.
