I'm done for the season.

I took this 8 point Christmas eve. Here's my youngest son showing him off for me.

I took this 9 point opening day of MS rifle season.

My little bro and I took these two bucks as they were fighting hard over a doe during the peak of the rut in ND.  It was snowy and minus 2 degrees in the rough badlands.

Me pictured.  But my Dad took this buck at 763 yards from the deck of my cabin in western, ND.  He shot it with a POF .308 with Leupold Mark 4 4.5x14x50.

Got this little fella Tuesday.  He was standing in a creek, dropped him right where he stood with a Winchester 1300 12ga shooting Hornady SST slugs.

Not bad for my first buck.

You might as well take up golf now!  Nice buck!

Almost ashamed to post this following some of those other bruisers.  But the 1st I've taken with this rifle.

Doe taken at about 70 yrds.  Homegrown 5.56 mid-length AR with Blackhole Weaponry 16" bbl using Winchester Ranger 64gr Power Point.

Bullet entered right front shoulder, breaking it, and exited other side just behind the shoulder.  Inside, the lungs were destroyed & half the heart was gone.  She ran about 30 yrds after the shot & then realized she was dead.

She ain't much compared to some of the others on here, but she'll feed us for a while.

I already posted my first 2 this year here are the others 3 I got. All using .300 blackout 200g prototype low velocity expander at 935fps

3rd one I actually thought was a large Doe, but ended up being a descent size button buck.

Right at the base of the neck and back. dropped where he was. he was still breathing a little when I got to him so finished him with my .22 1911 top of head.

recovered bullet in left shoulder.

4th one was another small doe a pair came in so I lined up one and took her in  the shoulder.  she ran off about 30yds and was dead.

Double lung shot
Entrance

Exit

Now the funny part was when I shot the other one of course took off the opposite direction then the one I shot. When I got to where I shot her I found this on the ground:

I was confused because I new where I had aimed and she was walking slowly when I took the shot, plus there was a blood trail.  So I followed the blood and there she was. In just that few minutes, I had forgotten about the tail until I drug her back to where I shot her and then saw the tail on the ground again.  I looked at her tail and the whole thing was there.  I realized that as she was walking she had walked in front of the other one and when I took the shot the bullet went thru and then clipped off the tail of the other one.

Last one was a mercy kill spike buck came in limping and only one antler.

His back leg looked like it had been hit with a shotgun pellet. bone was shattered and had started to heal all messed up. wound was infected.  the other antler which I thought maybe had broken off had actually never started growing. We have hunters that run dogs in this county and this is seen a lot. guy tries taking a shot at a running deer with his 12 gauge and all he does is wound it .  I am not a fan of dog runners.

All in all a successful year.  All six deer shot with .300 blackout recovered and processed.  Meat in freezer and looking forward to next year.

She shot the deer in the rear leg and then the neck.
(In Nebraska a male deer with spikes less then 6inches is considered antlerless)

How much damage does the 7.62x39 with SP ammo do? This is were the ball end of the leg bone should be.

My Deer. I took my shots with the deer on the run, first one cripled the front leg, second hit was a shot at the rump as she tried to run up a draw, that put her down but not out. Took a long while to die even after cutting the throat.
http://i44.tinypic.com/ipwemx.jpg

Both of us used a Sig556R with a YHM 7.62 SS suppressor mounted. Optic was a millet 1-4 circle dot. Ammo was S&B 123gr SP

Next time try not shooting a running deer and why didnt you just shoot the deer instead of cutting its throat?

Shot my first deer tonight, right at dusk. Small 5 point, shot from 35 yards with a tenpoint Titan crossbow and NAP spitfire extreme broad head. It was a quartering away shot, went in just in front of the diaphragm and came out the chest . He dropped instantly.

Sorry for the crappy iPhone pic, I'll put up a better one tomorrow.

What's there to be ashamed of? There are some beautiful bucks on here, but no one has found a way to eat the antlers! Good deer, hope she tastes good!

geez medic...you are going to be spoiled now. I can see it now for the next few years you 'll be saying "I hate hunting... this place sucks...etc", all because your first deer was a friggin monster!

Not my first deer, just my first buck. And you guys are right, I'll probably not be happy with less than 14 points now.

And as for what part of the state, Jefferson County, OH.

Hey man, I'm in Jefferson county.  Where about?

Urban Zone (early firearm 4 day antlerless season) opening evening October 7th.. 85 degrees too hot but this poor whitetail walked to within 3 big steps.  TAP ammo is deadly...
