Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Need advice on my 1975 Powerwagon Tri-Band AM,FM,CB antenna

If I barely plug my antenna in I get very clear reception, but if I plug it in all the way I get static. If the center male prong gets close to it's plug, then reception is good, but as soon as the outer shroud makes contact I get static and reception drops off.

Right now it is not installed in the truck and I am running everything from the wall.

Appears the antenna isn't actually connected to the center prong, must be corrosion somewhere.
the cable was acting as the antenna until the outer shroud was grounded.
