I have a 2008 Mercury 150 two stroke fuel injected outboard and when I was doing a PM on it I found a sensor that is not attached to anything and I can't find where it goes. I have attached some photos of the sensor in question and I am hoping someone here can help me out.

Looks like the water pressure sensor for a Smartcraft system. Your boat
proably doesn'y have the Smartcraft speedometer or gauges in it. Marine speedometers use water pressure to drive the speedo similar to how aircraft use air pressure for airspeed indicators. |

It has a regular pitot type speedometer. I just cleared the port on the lower unit when I did the water pump.
Thanks for the assist. It may not go to anything. Later on when I fire it up I'll see if I get an alarm or anything. It does have the port for vessel view. In your opinion is it worth it? It seems like it may be handy for troubleshooting. Dave |

It is the sensor for the Smartcraft speedo. It won't be connected
to anything (the little black hose). Vessel View will display trouble codes but won't give you an in depth description of what the code means. Marginal usefulness IMO but then again, I have all the Mercury diagnostic tools/computers/software.

Just took the boat out for a one and a half hour shake down and everything worked great.
