Built this out of a Tracker Topper 1436 jon boat for catfishing on the river and lake coves.
I added a small deck, lights, a bait well, seats, casting lights, UV rod holder lights, rod holder rack, trolling motor, on board dual battery charger, depth finder, float pods, new paint, seadeck, rubber floor mats, bimini top, and a remote control spotlight. This time however I’m not sure what’s wrong with it. It just dropped rpms for a little bit to where it was about to die and then died. I tried to restart it several times but no bueno. Had to use the very underpowered trolling motor to bring me back fighting the river current. I plan on flushing the cooling system, changing the impeller, cleaning the carburetor (again) and crossing my fingers and toes. |

How long since you last cleaned the carb? The carbureted four strokes'
carbs have to be surgically clean to operate properly. Brand doesn't matter. Merc, Yamaha, Honda, they all have to be very clean. The fuel/air passages inside the carb are tiny and blockages cause issues. After you get it running again, try to stay away from ethanol laced fuel if you aren't already. |

That is a sweet setup. Now I'm not feeling bad being stalled on my build.

By then I was having pickup issues I had to deal with so I just put her away till spring comes. End of March I’m going to do maintenance. I did run gas with some ethanol in it at the first of the year but have switched it out with non ethanol so that might be the issue. |

VERY well done, buy cat paint takes the cake!
Next level stuff! LOL, last summer, I rolled on some mil surp olive drab I bought back in '93 ( after hours of stirring) on a 12' V I've had since the '80s. Stuck on some flying tiger decals, added rod holders and called it a build! Grandson likes it, so good enough! |

@DM1975 what brand of float pods did you use? And how do you like them now that you have them on a while and what jack plate are you using?

The pods are beavertail’s and they work really well. With my fat ass in that boat it really squatted bad but the pods really brought it back up.
The jack plate is a Vance manual jack plate. I got it mainly for the setback so I could use the float pods with this outboard since it’s so narrow back there. |

Im very surprised to see it sit in the water as well as it does.
I woulda guessed 36" wide with the extra weight and that motor would get a lil sketchy. Nice Job. How does it ride? |
|
|
[#27]
It rides great. The float pods help a lot but it’ll hold me at 245lbs and another person my size with no problem.

Was just reading the float pod instructions. This completely changes how I see the micro jon boats now. VERY cool. Did you weld or bolt them on ? |
