I want an actual Mauser rifle in 9.3x62.

1. Is there a site that sells Mausers in 9.3?

2. Should I just have one built from an old Mauser action? Would a Mauser Dumoulin be a good action to use?

3. Which is the best model action to use?

4. Who does the best work? We have no good/real gunsmiths in Indiana.

CZ 550

You can't build one that cheap or much better

ETA I didn't open that link before I posted, looks like out of stock and possibly discontinued, sorry

I was leaning that way before. Sounds like the smartest way to go.

What about the Sauer 100?

CZ 550FS is the answer you seek. Then a matching rifle in 6.5x55 Swede.

Fantastic! Yours has the Euro-style 'hogback' stock (note the curve in the comb of the stock). I'd like to try your style against my CZ550 American to see if the stock makes a difference in the felt recoil.

Welcome to the club, too!

One thing's for sure, you'll likely get LOTS of attention in hunting camp with that, especially if its a buncha old-timers like me that know almost nothing about European calibers.

I was on a mission to get that stock with that caliber once I decided on CZ. I found it for $1000 less than CZ wanted from the custom shop.

Here's my CZ 550 in 9.3x62, before I put a scope on it. Wearing a Leupold VX5-HD now.

I bought it from Wayne at American Hunting Rifles. He’s the CZ Whisperer. Pictures don’t do it justice.

I’ve got dies to reload for it but have not yet.

I know you probably can't build one for that price but I have a VZ24 I've had forever that I'm going to build to 9.3 x 62.

I'll do some work myself.

Thanks for the pics.  Inspiration!

Wayne at AHR does wonderful work.  I hope the DSC (Dallas) show happens this coming January!

If Verney-Carron is slow with all the Covid uncertainties, I might order another double in something more appropriate for CONUS though, a 470NE, 450/400, 375H&H, and 9.3x74R has things pretty well covered but, a 30-30 might be just the ticket in a lighter rifle though smaller rimmed options haven't been totally ruled out.

I’m an oddball in that I have a 9.3x62 barre for my Sauer 200. I have used it successfully on elk and it is one of 3 candidates for my light rifle for a Tanzanian Safari. (the other are my Sauer in 20/06 and a custom Mauser in 338/06 AI). They heavy rifle will prob be my 470 NE double.

I love my 9.3 and it has flattened elk with both standard 286 gr cup and core bullets and Barnes TSX in the same weight. If it goes to Tanzania it will
Be the TSX bummers that go along for plains game.

You really can’t go wrong with this caliber and welcome to the club.

They're out there, although not super common. Thats what mine is, good little gun and much lighter than expected.
