I'm tempted. These any good? Looking for something lightweight for an all around deer rifle.

That price seems decent and i like the lines of the Kimber better than a tikka

I’ve handled a couple and they are nice.

I’m partial to the walnut stocked version though.

Yea i definitely like the looks of wood better, but already have several wood stocked guns, and the weight and price jumps up quite a bit

Hopefully you can get your hands on one to shoot before you commit . I tried the 84m, it did not shoulder well for me and ended up purchasing the 8400 montana which is a pile of crap. Kimbers customer service and product support has been the worst experience I've ever had dealing with firearms.

I've known more than a few people who've bought the Kimber rifles and had issues with them.  I've only know one person who has not had issues with his rifle.

Haven't met anyone in person yet who hasn't had issues with their kimber rifle. I've only heard such people exist in online forums...unicorns

Winchester makes synthetic stocked rifles.  The Kimber is a copy of the Model 70 action.  This is their website so the prices are MSRP.  I'm sure you could find them cheaper.  Buds Guns might be one source.

Agree with 1ADMP.  The current Model 70s are some of the nicest factory hunting rifles you can buy in the $1,000 range.  I got my Model 70 Extreme Weather (synthetic stock version like 1ADMP linked) for $1,100 from Buds Gun Shop.  Mine is chambered in 300 Win Mag.

The neighbor has one on .270 Win and said it shoots great! No issues with it.

I’ll be your unicorn.

I have a Kimber Caprivi in .416 Rem and it’s one of my favorite guns. Zero problems.

I picked up a Kimber in 25-06 in a pawn shop years ago.  Too cheap to pass up.

It is an incredibly accurate hunting rifle, with a couple of sub-MOA 3 shot groups with my first attempt at reloading for it. Fluke or not, it is promising.  I don't shoot it much, but it shoots too good to get rid of it.

That said, Kimbers do have a reputation for either grouping or patterning.

I am also one of those unicorn’s. My 8400 300 wsm shot a .58” three shot group first time out. I have repeated that many times. It really likes 180gr tsx’s. The added bonus that the AAA wood is fantastic makes it a winner for sure. It is actually the most accurate factory bolt gun I have purchased.

Another unicorn here.

My 300 WSM Subalpine will do 5 right at an inch.  I have no doubt it’s capable of much better, but I haven’t played with the load very much.

Only fucking idiots think Kimbers are bad guns. The Hunter is a solid platform and it's not any different from any of the other bolt guns other than the plastic stock.

I still don't get the fascination with the 6.5 Dreadlock, though.

I have a Kimber 84m hunter in 308 and a nice walnut stocked model in 7mm-08. Both are superb easy to carry rifles that are very accurate.

I must know alot of guys with these mythical unicorn Kimbers . 3 with Mt Ascents in 280AI , 2 of them also have Mt Ascents in 6.5 , another 3 guys with Mt Ascents in 7mm. All the rifles will shoot whatever they feed them , they all reload using 140 , 168 and 180 grain Bergers . With reloads they are absolutely impressive.

I just got back from an Elk hunt in CO.  While sitting around the campfire we started talking about various hunting rifles.  Friends father said he bought a fancy Kimber years ago and got rid of it due to accuracy issues.  Maybe Kimber has fixed the issues of the past?  Not sure and don't really care.

I just picked up a Winchester Model 70 Featherweight in .270Win and it's an exceptional shooter right out of the box.

I guess I got the one good kimber.   Mine has been great and is pretty accurate.  It's the same one in OP in 6.5 creed more and I am taking it elk hunting tomorrow with full confidence.
