Another of those lessons in life, I’ve had health challenges so my balance isn’t great but I’ve been gaining weight so I’ve been pushing myself to walk more in the morning. I was in a local park and there were paved trails but between the paved trails was a dirt path that went down to a creek. I was a scout leader (and technically stil am but with my health issues Ive lost a lot of my hearing) so I was looking the area over for a scout hike. Well, the trail was steep but it went along the Grade but like I said my balance isn’t great and I fell down a 25 to 50yd steep hill.
Like I said I broke my shoulder bone, the ball itself, but when I fell my phone came loose so I had to climb back up the stupid hill to find my phone. Then, I was about a mile from any parking so I called my wife to come take me to the hospital (I thought my shoulder was dislocated but the pain was intense to say the least). I walked out the valley to find an easier way to get back to the trail.
I hike, or used to hike, al the time and certainly my wife and son both knew were I planned to hike but having my phone come out of my pocket and having to search for it while in a whole world of pain wasn’t something I had planned on.
I see tomorrow what surgery looks like but wanted to share. Sucks as this was just a park, not like the Appalachian trail, but I am all cut up and smacked my head good to go with my broken bone. Happens quick, I was lucky I had a water bottle holder with a shoulder strap I could use to make a hasty sling too. I did that immediately as I knew the pain was coming.
Life sucks and keeps getting worse but this is a new level of pain for me.
