The 710 is currently on a $40 ^K discount.  I'd like to see it in the $400 range though.  Should that happen I doubt I'd be able to resist.  I'll figure out how to explain the different control head in the truck to the wife somehow.  Yea right, like she'd even notice!

Yaesu tanked the price of the FTM400 (probably in a Hail Mary attempt to build Fusion support), it'd be nice to see Big K do the same to the D710GA. At least through the end of the year.

Yeah I've seen them for 549, with some discount but another $50 gets it to 499 or as people like to say under $500 haha
If they tanked it like you said to 450-490 or so it'll be a no brainer. I'm probably still getting it so who am I fooling...the question is when

Too many nice deals. I almost bought a 7610 once but common sense prevailed. LOL. I also want to test drive the new Yaesu digital rig. It looks very tempting too.

BTW, please holler if any of you guys see a deal on a MFJ-998, 1,500 watts "IntelliTuner".

Haven't seen any BF deals on that one yet. Mine is on the fritz at the moment. When it comes on, it briefly displays the message "No interface PIC". I read on some forums that's not an at home treatable problem. I haven't been able to contact MFJ to see what they recommend.

Sorry to hear this. MFJ is not known for their build quality. Perhaps I'd be better off to fix my old manual tuner. It was only used on 80 meters where SWR gets over 3:1 at band edges. My amp can handle up to 3:1 SWR without a tuner.

Bought the  Yaesu FTM-3207DR 55 Watt 430 MHZ UHF C4FM/FM Mobile instead for the same money.
I wanted a dedicated UHF rig in the shack moar than another HT (right now) which will free-up my 71a if I want to put it in the Super-Duty and allow me potentially do Fusion via simplex with some buddies.

I have the FT-70, purchased because repeater book said there was a fusion / wires capable repeater in my area.  Come to find out, it's offline and has been for a long time.

In my completely inexperienced opinion, it's a fine radio.  I use it with a MMVDMM hotspot since I don't have a local wires-x repeater.

Do those work well? I was wandering about them, i thought i might get one to use while im riding around and lose repeater coverage. Can you use it to change rooms, and do everything that wires is capable of?

Darn. The MFJ-2100 Octopus antenna base is OOS at mtcradio. I was planning to order one of those and 80m, 60m, 40m, and 20m MFJ hamsticks to screw into it. Basically it takes two hamsticks and makes a diploe out of it. You can make it a 4-band antenna. May have to get the hamsticks and see if I can find someplace else that has the octopus. MFJ sells it directly but it's usually more expensie thru them.
