With my shitty Baofeng UV-5r. First pass in about 5 minutes is really low on the horizon. Not expecting much. Next pass is much higher. It's the weekend. Expect to hear something.

Good stuff.

I need to get some feed line so I can use my satellite station. It's all there and works. Even have a radio that's dual band dual receive. FM only, but that's alright. One of these days I'll swing for something that does SSB.

Broke squelch a few times. Heard some partial calls and a QSL. I'm surrounded by trees and the pass was low on the horizon. Next pass should be better. As long as the hams can stay up that late.

Tagged for interest. One of my beginners goals is to make contact via satellite. Sounds like SSB is much easier but I'll be doing the Baofeng / Arrow 2m/70cm directional route. Bought a Samsung A7 to use for satellite app as well as SSTV hopefully.

I talked to Colonel Wheelock aboard the ISS, from my friends FT-7900, 50watts, Larson 270NMO, ford F-150 LOL,  while heading to the range to shoot our CMP Garands.

That was a great day

Leave your squelch open.

Thanks. Not my first rodeo.

You said it broke the squelch which would mean it wasn't open.

I understand squelch and dislike listening to static like the next guy.

I get far better results using hts with sats and the ISS with squelch at 0.  The static is a small price to pay !

Second pass was much more successful. Lots of legible call signs. "Good evening John."
