Whatever. All chainsaws are the same just like all guns and cars are the same.

Yes! I went to my local small engine guy who sells Stihl and Husquvara saws. He said they were just about as reliable as each and guided me towards a MS250 Stihl saw. Lighter than my 50cc Poulan saw, there's no primer pump needed. It bucked and cut a 115 foot tall, 20" diameter, birch on a single tank of gas yesterday.

Echo has just about the best price/performance ratio of anything out there.  Pick one that fits your needs.  I have a CS-310 for my carry around trimming saw and a CS-590 Timberwolf for serious firewood work.

My CS-310 has been bouncing around in the back of the truck the past few months.  Starts easy every time.

We have a CS-501 in the family we couldn't get started last time we tried to use it.  Doesn't have a priming bulb.  Not sure if it was a fuel delivery issue or lack of spark.  Need to follow up to see if they figured it out.

It's a great saw.  The thing really rips.  I'm super happy with mine.

For firewood I'd go with 372 XP 20 inch bar, you'll appreciate 70cc and still relatively lightweight.

Do you already have cordless tools, like the Milwaukee M18 series? Get an electric chainsaw that uses the same battery.

Stihls an Husqvarna are more pricey...any others a decent chainsaw? Craftsmen, max power, etc?

Greenworks pro with an 18" bar works great

Any issues with an Echo CS-400-18VP?

My main use will be cutting up slabs into firewood size pieces.  I don't have any big trees to fell.

For a firewood saw, I would recommend something with more ass than 40cc pulling 3/8LP chain.

I have since discovered a 4910 with a 49cc engine and a magnesium case.  Under $400

Stihl MS-170 bought 2 days before IRMA and it's never had a drop of fluid inside.

Still...I have a chainsaw!
