Looks very nice although the wire of the cable seems a bit thin (the individual strands) .  Would like to know how well it performs.
Wayne Goddard recommends using the thickest wire possible for max. carbon retention.

Jesus Christ no.
Just saying what I read somewhere a long time ago.
Thicker wire strands means less carbon is lost during the forging process (at least in theory) and it was recommended to use cable with as thick individual strands as possible. Would be nice to see a comparison so see how much truth there is to this and if theres any practical difference, other than the aesthetic one.

If I had the skills, setup, time, and motivation I would totally try to see what size cable wires make the best Damascus.

It looks like the vast majority of his power equipment is home-made or repurposed from some other use. The guy definitely has skills if he did all that AND makes those awesome knives.
