I worked him, too.

The Ducie Island DXpedition is about a week away. I'm fascinated by the fact that they are placing weathertight radio/amp enclosures on the island and that operators around the world will be operating them remotely 24/7. Three guys staying on a boat will refuel generators and maintain equipment once a day.

I'm receiving them on 10, but my signal is not even remotely close to reaching them.  Can't hear on 20, got crazy RFI at 14.090.

Nice!

I got him by accident, I was calling CQ on 21.021 when his signal swallowed up mine on the scope.

They were on 21.020

Must have jumped to 20 meters right after I posted the spot.

And Ducie again last night on 24.930, him listening up 5 at 01:48z. The band was not great so there was no pile up to speak of. I just had to wait until I could hear him clearly enough to make a QSO and then it was no problem.

Also got him last night on the same frequency at around 00:16z. He was pretty loud here.

Oddly, propagation to Turkey was very good, so I picked up TA3NE on 14.316, and TC100HQ on 14.295.

I got him there about 23:28z.  Took me a LONG time to be heard, but The Democratic Republic of the Congo was an ATNO, so...

I already had Republic of the Congo and am embarrassed to admit that I didn't realize there were 2 Congos until I looked into this station. The wiki entry for the country and the ongoing turmoil make it a place I can't wait to never visit.

The team originally had different call signs for the province they planned to set up in. Then violence and unrest forced them to find a new QTH, which resulted in different call signs. I think they were originally 9Q3 and had to go to 9Q1.

21.313.5 BD7MM - My first QSO with China!

They are doing the ITU contest, so they want their signal report and YOUR ITU zone #. Unlike many contests, they do NOT want to know the number of QSOs you have made, so "001" is wrong.

Dem Rep of Congo is currently on 14.084.  Only took me a minute and a half.  Earlier on a different band they responded three minutes after I quit transmitting. At that point I lost my path to them they were unable to copy signal report to them.

Kazakhstan is/was on SSB not long ago. Got that one in the log for the first time. I've also added Sri Lanka twice and Iceland today on FT8. And Siberian Russia.
Now Iceland on SSB.

9Q1ZZ on 21.090 FT8 (F/H) at 23:32 on 07/10/23.

Easy pickings.  I called one time and he responded.  He's working mostly JA and EU but it looks like the USA has good propagation in there and a lot of guys here are getting called.

Wow .. he just called CQ with no takers!  The second time he called a few jumped on.  This is a VERY good time to get that country on 15 meters if you need it.

Just got 9Q1ZZ for a second band.  Kind of surprised since PSKreporter doesn't even report me to the east.

Not a lot of stations calling so it's a pretty easy catch.  Not terribly rare but also not something we see every day.  I think I've only worked it twice over the years.

I was able to get them on 20M and 15M. When I checked their online log, they also listed me in the Sat row in the V-U column. I have no idea what that even is, so they must have misheard or mis-recorded someone else's call.

I think that's VHF, UHF, SATelitte.

That's one of the great things about some of the digital modes: Unless the station is set up wrong in the software the call won't get transposed, misheard or anything.  It's also not likely to not be logged since that is normally done automatically at the end of the contact.

You might want to send their QSL guy (EA5RM) an email and mention it to him.  As you said, they likely transposed someone else's call to yours.

And... I started composing an email to Tony and wanted to send him a marked up screen cap showing the bad one, but their log was offline for maintenance, so I waited. Once their online log was back from maintenance, the errant QSO was no longer there.

Maybe you caused the maintenance

I wanted to make sure I was in the log and also noticed that it was down for maintenance.  Gotta wonder whose record got lost due to the "Maintenance".  At least it wasn't mine.

Yeah, if I could control events half a world away with my mind, the world would be a very different place.

In other news, after the maintenance, my 40M QSO with them showed up. I hadn't been sure the guy got the first letter of my call sign before he moved on.
