Just saw this on SpotCollector. Tuned in but can't hear a thing. Real, or someone messing around?

If you didn't hear a thing it's phony because if it was real the pileup would be world-shattering. |

I was tempted to try and work him but figured "why bother?". |

But I've been having trouble hearing ANYBODY the last few days and didn't want to just dismiss it outright. Thought I should ask just in case it was real and someone else could get a shot at a super rare one. Conditions have been more screwy than normal for me lately. Today I couldn't hear stations (CA, OR, NV, ID, etc.) that normally sound like they're in the same room. But there was a POTA station in OH coming in at S8 and I couldn't hear ANY of the stations he was talking to. |

First rule of DXing: Log them first, worry about where they are second! And you are right, things have been goofy lately. I've been able to hit places I usually have difficulty with and can't hit places I usually hit easily. Even continental stations have been difficult at times. Very strange conditions. |

Had an FT8 QSO with India Yesterday or it might have been this morning. I don't remember.
It's been 4 years since I was able to get a QSO with India. The band is getting back together! |

Read the page and you'll see that they have a 3-element Yagi for 160 meters. The boom is constructed from tower sections. Some of the other towers are rotatable towers (not rotatable antennas). The photos tell the story. |

That software can decode signals that are so weak it's amazing. Edit .. On re-reading this it may come off as me taking a shot at M4Madness and it wasn't meant that way. I got him interested in FT8, we swap text messages a lot, and I think what he has done in a very short time is admirable. That comment was just me teasing him and if it gave the wrong impression I apologize. |
