I'm looking for a red light for coyote hunting with a rifle. Looking for effectiveness for target ID and taking the shot out to at least 100 yards, but would prefer to be able to go further.

I've seen it said don't use a white light with a red filter, use red LEDs, which makes perfect sense to me so I'm looking to go that route.

I was also thinking if I was to go higher dollar, it might be nice to make it a light I can easily switch out to white for use as a spotter or handheld flood for other non-hunting purposes. Just a thought though, right now my priority is getting better set up for coyote.

I've had the Foxpro Firefly for about two months in red and it is awesome.  If you get the Fireeye you get red, green, amber, and white...kind of wish I'd sprung for it because a white light that bright would have been handy a few times already.

Wicked lights

I use a Predator Tactics Coyote Reaper. Available in kits that include several colored LEDs including IR, mounts, pigtails, and other do-dads. And will illuminate well past 300 yards.

It's light years better than the system I used to have. Wish I'd have gotten something like this a couple years ago.
