I've got one.  It hasn't seen hard use, but I can verify it will run a small window ac unit, small 32 inch TV, and charge your phone while you lounge in the one comfortable room in your house.

I’d kick in the extra $50 for their champions when they’re on sale, little more brand name.

It is small, in my case I need it to power a small bedroom air conditioner and some lights in the same room.  I have a bigger generator but I don't want to run it at night and waste fuel when I only need to power small loads.

I have the slightly older 1000i version.

For the money, it's great - beats the hell out of the Harbor Freight "tailgater" 2-stroke!

One thing it really shines at is recharging large deep-cycle batteries - i.e., trolling motor, RV/Marine or golf cart batteries.

It'll run a switching-type battery charger at well over 50 DC amps - which will bring several hundred amp-hours of batteries up to a full state of charge in short order.

Like most other inverter models, the AC waveform is very clean - better than what comes out of a lot of AC wall outlets:

It would be massive overkill for that purpose - a huge waste of fuel.

A cell phone charger only requires around 15 watts AC - a load so small, the generator wouldn't even know it's there.

The best power source for charging cell phone batteries is another battery - specifically, a 12 volt automotive or deep-cycle battery.

Just about any automotive battery has enough capacity to recharge a cell phone dozens of times before it needs a recharge of its own.

Mine has shipped already. Should have it by Tuesday.

Pretty sure that the sticker is a lie and it is not CARB approved as small engines have effectively been banned for sale in California.

Typically, it has a catalytic converter on the exhaust, and a different carburetor.

That means it runs like shit until you adjust the carb for your environment .

Does anyone know what magnetic oil drain plug fits this?
I got the WEN 55201 drain plug and the threads don`t match.

Sportsman appears to be made by "Buffalo Tools"...a USA Company but of course made in Chyna like the rest.   Seem to have good reviews.  

I like my WENs.  They and the Champion 2000 +/- Watt are both around 415.00 on Amazon.  I am sure they are Chyna made as well.  

$379.00 for a Sportsman 1000 Inverter on Amazon right now.   That should sip gas on a light load.    Sipping of fuel is why I like my small WEN...plus is very quiet.

The Wen 2250 is $389 OTD and it's 1800/2250 watts. Much better deal.
