Total newbie fishing deep salt water, and booked a trip.
I have fished coastal, reefs, and flats in Florida and Texas.
Buddy at work talked me into going, said its a good time.
Tilefish, grouper, swords ,and tuna out of Cape May, Delaware.

Do any of you guys have any experience? Tips, pointers?
I have run great lakes charters( buddy's boat), at 2-400 ft., but never 6-900.
Is it a good time to go, or am I on a BS boat ride?

Provided that you have a good captain, you’ll have a blast if you hook a nice tuna or billfish out there (or a mahi, or wahoo).

I’ve had some great trips out that way.
