Its for the house... if the lights go out type of stuff. Would this be the best and longest type of candles for this?

soy and beeswax are about the same, in terms of longevity. Soy is usually cheaper, cost wise.

For “lights go out type of stuff”, I prefer crank to power LED lanterns.
Brighter, more even light, lasts a long time on a little winding, NO chance of fire, cleaner, and don’t melt away.

just a comment... in my Scout days, our tent lights were Gerber baby food jars, approximately 1/3 filled with plain Gulf paraffin from the supermarket...heavy weave cotton cord for the wick... room in the jar to hold a pack of matches, and lid kept every thing dry

shoe polish tin with multiple wicks of the cotton cord and paraffin fuel for a small canteen cup cook stove... a block of paraffin fueled both the stove and light

Go to Hobby Lobby, Michaels, or any other crafts store and buy a slab or paraffin and roll your own.

Soy wax is to be avoided, due to its lower melting point, unless you’re using enclosed globes.

I’ve made my own candles in the past and you can find wicks and whatnot, on EBay.

Checked my Amazon orders archive and I got 5 of them in 2016 for $11.83 each. They are no longer available from Amazon, so I did a Google search of the brand and model and it popped up in Walmart, but "out of stock"

Amazon had other one's but they looked heavier because they had solar panels on top. And they cost double.
Maybe the newer one's have cell phone chargers and other stuff on them now.
Harbor Freight or Northern most likely have ones, too.

EDIT: HAHAHAHA. Gotta love technology. Amazon emailed these "suggestions" 5 minutes ago.

Also, it seems rats enjoy soy chips.

Some people are allergic to soy, if you needed them in an emergency it would a hard way to find out.
Soy is used in a lot of things as a filler. Mice are fond of it and eat insulation in electrical wiring.

the 9 day religious candles are 100% vegetable oil. That being said you really can't beat a lantern with lamp oil for lights go out kinda stuff
