Cool little boat, it would crumble under my care.
You may have more patience.

Wood boats have a different feel to them than aluminum. If it’s a decent price and is wide enough to be stable go for it.  You can always strip the paint and add fiberglass and resin.

A boat is a hole in the water surrounded by wood into which one pours money.

That boat needs a proper gaff-rigged sail, dagger board, and tiller.

It looks nice, if the price is good, I would buy that.

Wood boats require significantly more TLC than glass or steel boats.

Even more so if you're in the warmer southern water.

If you treat it well, it will last a long time.

I love how much quieter wooden boats are for hunting.
It is the maintenance involved that I do not own one.

Although I am tempted to try make a coffin boat. But the plywood is out of sight.

Do you have a nice garage to store it in? It looks nice that’s for sure.

Pretty cool boat. Great experience for the boys.

What motor do you have on it? Looks different from the one in the original post.

What's the material sandwiched between the sheer clamp and inwale? Is it expanding polyurethane foam?

I love my wood drift boat.  I have another drift boat I use most of the time but this old girl goes down the river a few times each year.

I think it's some sort of epoxy.

Maybe epoxy over foam? If so you'll want to keep a good seal over it, if that is indeed foam moisture could wick right into the end grain of the hull. If it's straight epoxy, the hue is a little unusual but it often takes unusual colors when people add filler materials to it. It looks a bit porous in either case, not unusual for epoxy to have some bubbling.

Great work on the brass keel strip. Lots of folks have problems when they drill and countersink the strip before bending it over the keel. I'm planning a a little wooden boat build and thinking through a few different options. I might end up doing both
